Fluid Dynamics

Computer Simulations are essential to maximize the performance of every aerodynamic body. We have compared dozens of models against each other to find the perfect size, length, overlap, angles, distance, cross-section, thickness, sweep, profile apex, camber profile nose radii tail section. With parallel testing under real conditions we decided on the right mixture between grip, speed, upwind angle, durability, safety and compatibility to fit the needs of the ambitious kitesurfer and record hunter.

  • A no-wingtip design leads to greatly reduced wingtip-vortecie.

  • The staggered alignment of the fins act like a slat on an aircraft and inhibits the complete stall of the inner aerofoil. That prevents a spinout even if the limit is exceeded.

  • Inherent stiffnes of the hollow profile: With the individual airfoils supporting eachother they can reach same strength with just half the thickness. Therefore the lateral surface area is almost doubled but the frontal area stays roughly the same.

  • By turning the screws upside down, there are no dimensional or angular restrictions, allowing the aerofoils to be placed like on a raceboard. One fin acts as a pivot to submerge the edge, while the second one is angled outwards to push straight upwind.

Normal fin | A normal fin is a basic airfoil with all its characteristics and limitations.

Normal fin

A normal fin is a basic airfoil with all its characteristics and limitations.

  • Low aspect ratio - leads to surfeit wingtip vortices and therefor poor efficiency.

  • Abrupt and complete stall - when the fin gets loaded too much or the angle of attack is to high the aerofoil stalls and the grip declines rapidly which results in a spinout.

  • The single fin has by its shape a low inhearent stiffness. As they also include the mounting screws, a thick aerofoil has to be chosen.

  • Maximum size limited by safety handling and strength.
